Our Mission

The interactive FBL has been conceived as a living archive of stories about resistance and survival. It brings together the experiences of people who fight against oppression, nationalism, racism, and human rights violations worldwide.

What leads these people to resist? Where do they find the strength in situations where others, often without exception, remain silent and learn to live with injustice? What can we do ourselves?

We will pursue these and other questions. After all, human rights must be fought for and secured on a daily basis. They are vital to all of us every day and in all countries around the world.

We would like to invite everyone who identifies with these goals to actively help establish the FBL. Investigate, film, and retell with us stories of the struggle for human rights. In this way the voices of survivors will remain alive. Flyer

FBL copyright and data management

A database was programmed for the interactive Fritz Bauer Library (FBL), which is maintained by the BUXUS STIFTUNG. It allows the stories in the library to be evaluated in terms of certain categories, which go far beyond names, locations, and key words (see "Search for stories"). The library is a research project, not a wiki or an encyclopedia.

The FBL is a work in progress that allows us to recognize motives and factors that prompt individuals to fight for human rights. At the same time, it reveals the influences that support people in the defense of human rights. In order to publish a story in the library, authors log in using a password, upload the text of their story, documents, and images, then send them to the site editors with a click. This "click" authorizes the BUXUS STIFTUNG to publish the story. If questions arise, the FBL editors contact the authors, or consult with experts.

The authors are responsible for their stories, and are named at the end of the story, along with the date of publication. The copyright remains with the writer.

The stories published by the FBL can only be copied and published elsewhere with the written consent of the authors and the BUXUS STIFTUNG GmbH.
